In the Manoir’s vicinity you can visit many of the famous castles which UNESCO declared as World Heritage : the châteaux Chambord, Amboise and Chenonceaux as well as the Royal Castle of Blois, to name just a few.


Sciences lovers will want to pay a visit to the Château du Clos Lucet where Leonardo da Vinci lived.


Do not miss a visit to the famous zoo in Beauval, with two Chinese Pandas, to name just them. Also, visit the château de Cheverny and watch the daily feeding(5 pm) of the pack of Harrier hounds that are bred there. Readers of the Tintin books will adore the exhibition of the Hergé Foundation: indeed, the books’ ‘Château de Moulinsart’ was modelled on Cheverny.


To make your visit truly unforgettable take a tour by hot-air balloon (au gré des vents) or by helicopter over the “Valley of the Kings”: on a fine day an outstanding experience. You can book canoe and kayak rides on the Loire.


Connoisseurs can taste the white, red and rosé wines directly with the regional wine-growers. Dairy farms will let you discover the unique taste of the goat cheeses typical for the Loire Valley. Gourmets will not miss the visit to a chocolate manufacturer in Bracieux to experience true delight.


Each castle has its individual atmosphere with antique furniture, gobelins and porcelaine, and often magnificent floral decorations to admire. Art lovers will also want to discover the Musée de l’Objet and its collection of contemporary art, as well as the Museum of Religious Art, both in Blois, nor will they miss the remarkable portrait galleries in Montrésor and Beauregard castles.


The splendours of royal gardens can be admired in the parks of Chenonceau castle,, of the castles of Chaumont-sur-Loire, of Villandry and of Valençay as well as of Beauregard.


Discover th numerous cycling paths that link the city of Blois with various Loire castles. Le local swimming pool in Contres includes a fun bath and a spa, but in Mont sur Chambord there is also an open air natural pool to enjoy on a hot day.. Riding lessons and excursions on horseback are available as well as the access to several tennis courts and a skate board site. In Cheverny (7 km) you will find an 18 hole golf course, and all around Contres marked paths invite you to pedestrian strolls or your daily jogging.


For those who are in need of peace and quiet there is no better place than the park at the Manoir to relax and let the everyday strain slip away. Just take your laptop (free WIFI access !) under an umbrella on the Manoir’s terrace to work al fresco, or sit on a park bench by a bicentennial tree, feed the ducks and enjoy contemplating the green lawns bordered with flowers and the sun-lit pond.
